All Spartans there will be no practice tonight due to the fields being flooded, a play book session will be held for both teams in the club house from 600 PM which everyone needs too attend.

Spartans Vs Ravens

This Saturday the 4/9 the Junior Spartans take on the Juniuor Ravens at Judy Holt Park, Old Cleveland Road East, Birkdale at 200 PM, Parents, friends and supporters are all welcome to support the junior team.

its a long way home to drive back and get your gear spartans. please remember to make sure you have all your playing gear before you leave home. a handy tip: put on your lowers and socks before you get in the car, that way you have less to worry about. a good team is an organised team!! bring on saturday!!!!!!!!!!

The Season has Begun!

The Gridiron Queensland season kicks off this Saturday the 28th of August at 2:00 PM for the Junior Spartans and 4:00 PM for the senior Spartans. Both games will be held at the Logan Metro Sports Centre which is located at 357 Browns Plains Road, Crestmead.

uniform prep

In preparation for the first game of the season, all spartans with club helmets are asked to please remove the old spartan decal in preparation for a new one come wednesday training.

Jersey Presentation

All Spartans, This Friday night 20/8/10 we will be having a jersey presentation night followed by a Junior and Senior chalk board session. It will begin at 700 PM at the Maroochydore rugby league club house BYO food and drinks (non-alcoholic for juniors) will be at the bar. All players especially rookies and Matt Noonan must attend!

kitted training has begun

the spartan camp has begun their kitted training. Mondays training session has become one of the biggest we have had so far. registration forms / fees / kitted training

Spartans need to have registration forms filled out and handed in asap. this is to ensure all players are insured whilst training/playing.

a small reminder for all fees to be made out to spartans treasurer, Josh Herman.

With full payments we can provide helmets and pads to a first paid, first to hit basis.

Final Round Preview

Come this Sunday, the 2009 Gridiron Queensland regular season will be finished. Claiming the minor premierships are the Senior Gold Coast Stingrays and the Junior Eastside ravens. Unfortunately this weekend will be the last game of the season for the Spartans senior team as they have failed amass enough competition points to claim a playoff seed. On the other hand, The Spartans junior team (18 and under) have made a late season push for the fourth playoff seed in their maiden year as a club.

This coming Weekend both Spartans teams are playing in Wacol. The junior game is at 12 noon against the winless Kenmore Bears with the seniors playing at 7pm against the 2nd place Ravens team. With the senior team looking to end their season on a high the junior team is on the other end of the spectrum looking to gain momentum heading into the playoffs.

TRAINING CHANGE

From now on, training will be on Tuesday 630 to 900 and Thursday 630 to 830 (if you are only able to make one session, make it Tuesday. we need to train as a whole team)

Kitted training starts soon

After gaining some assistance from GQ the Spartans are now in a position to start training with equipment in the next week or two.
this is dependent on players finishing to pay their fees.

Equipment arrives

Last night club coaches were contacted by Gridiron Queensland to let them know that the long awaited container is due to arrive today.

It is unclear what and even how much equipment is in the container but some equipment has been said to be held back for the new teams in the league.
the equipment seems to have arrived just at the right time as players have been training without it up till now.

It is hoped that the introduction of equipment at training will help to increase interest in the sport further, making recruitment of new players easier.

The container is due to be unpacked this weekend and we should have an idea of kit available early next week.

Wednesday night lights

This is where we open up a question to everyone, fans,players and coaches to see if we can get some good ideas and have a good old football talk.

Remember this is a fun and hopefully productive talk about getting those problems all teams face sorted. so any slagging of individuals/teams will immediately be removed.
